Jim & Jori Manske, Certified NVC Trainer:
Jim and Jori offer practical tools to help us develop patience through a process they call WAIT: Wake up, Accept, Insight, Take a step.
- Are there times you remember that you were feeling impatience or a sense of urgency to be heard?
- What choice did you make?
- Did the choice you made lead to connection for you and others?
- If yes, what did you do? Celebrate the needs met.
- If not, explore replaying the encounter in your mind with W.A.I.T:
- WAKE UP: What is actually happening in that moment you are exploring? What are you present to?
- ACCEPT that this is what life is offering right now
- INSIGHT: What is really IMPORTANT about this? What is your deep INTENTION (universal need)?
- TAKE a step. TRY something that might address the need.
B. Using W.A.I.T.: Notice opportunities during each day when you can try out this process.
C. Daily preparation for Patience:
Upon awakening in the morning, consider your intentions for the day...what needs are important to you? What strategies are you contemplating to meet those needs? (To connect with strategies, it can be helpful to savor the needs.)
You can also recall the challenges of yesterday...what would you like to do differently today? For example, if yesterday you noticed that you felt impatient when someone else started speaking before you finished and you reacted with anger, what would you like to do instead today?
